General League Rules

• The league will consist of three divisions of ten players. Divisional status will be decided by the Organisers as they see fit and will not be negotiable.

• Entry to the league will be £60 and payable prior to the announced deadline (see options below). This consists of the initial entry fee of £40, plus a £2 match fee per player, per league fixture for the duration of the league (including the first round of the KO Cup). All fees are to be paid prior to the league season commencing.
There are two payment options available:
A: Immediate payment in full (£60)
B: Immediate payment of £40, followed by second payment of £20 (To be paid 4 weeks later).

  • Please see the Payout Structure for prize information. All prizes are subject to entries.
  • The league will run over 18 weeks. Please see the Fixture Schedule for further information.

• All scheduled matches are to be played on the relevant Thursday with an 8.00pm start time. Every attempt should be made to play fixtures on the set date and at the set time. Should a player be unable to fulfil a particular fixture they should notify the Organisers as soon as possible, but in all circumstances before the match date.

• All fixtures are to be played at Riley’s Purley Way.

• Matches are to be played on the specified tables, as determined by a random draw carried out by the Organisers.

• Players are responsible for collecting sets of balls and ensuring lights are switched on for their designated table before the match.

• In each fixture, the two players will lag to decide who breaks first.

  • Each league fixture will consist of 12 frames, played to current WEPF World Rules, with the exception of the ‘one-minute’ rule.
  • At the end of the match, players must ensure balls are returned to the bar, not left on the table.
  • All completed match result sheets must be handed to the Organiser.

• A player will gain one point per frame won, plus two points for a match win and one point for a match draw.

• Final league placings will be determined in order of the most points won. If two players are level on points, the number of matches won, then the number of frames scored and, if still level, their head-to-head score will be the deciding factor. If the players are still level after the head-to-head record is taken into account, then whoever got to the 6 frames first will be on top.

• As stated above, matches are to start at 8pm. Unless notified prior to the Organisers, a player will be deducted 1 league point per 15 minutes of lateness up to a maximum of 5 league points per instance.

• Also as previously stated, matches are to be played on the scheduled Thursday. Unless notified prior to the Organisers, a player will be deducted 10 points for not attending a fixture in the first instance. The second instance will result in automatic withdrawal from the league. All missed matches will still need to be played should the player remain in the league. These matches will be rescheduled to be played in the next ‘break’ week.

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING POSTPONEMENTS

Riley’s now have a new system for table bookings. All match-play within the Croydon Singles League will free if played on the scheduled Thursday. Any postponements which are re-arranged for any other time MUST be pre-booked and confirmed by phone with Riley’s Purley Way (either Hannah or Katie), in order to be confirmed with Head Office to enable free table play. Please do not rely on text, email or PM on the pool website as without confirmation of the booking you will be charged for the table use. Please note, if this happens, you will not be refunded by the league.

• Should any player leave the league and not complete their fixture programme, the following will apply:

  • If a player has played less than 50% of matches: All results for that player will be removed and become void.
  • If a player has played over 50% of matches: Average results will apply and will be applied at the point of the relevant fixture. All previous results will stand.

• A promotion/relegation system will operate for subsequent seasons with the top three and bottom three in each Division being affected.

• Should any disputes arise between players during a frame, the Organisers will act as Referees on the day and will have the final decision.

  • All matches, once started, must be completed at that time. Any player 'walking out' of an uncompleted match will be ejected from the league. In addition, any player ejected under this ruling will not be allowed to re-enter subsequent CSL seasons.

• Players will need to supply a valid email address and mobile telephone number at point of payment as all notifications will be carried out via these channels.

• All monies paid to the league are non-refundable.

• The Organisers’ decision will be final in all matters regarding the league.

‘The Croydon Singles League is intended for players to enjoy competitive pool, the ability to improve your game through practice with players of all standards, and most of all for enjoyment. The structure of the payouts is to ensure that as many players as possible have the opportunity to play in a structured league format, and the opportunity to win some cash prizes’

K.O. Cup Rules

GENERAL RULES

• The general rules of play will be the same as for standard league matches with regard to start times, venue, table allocation etc.

  • The KO Cup will be held on allocated weeks, as per the fixtures schedule.

• As with League matches, an additional £2 match fee will apply per player, per fixture for the duration of their stay in the competition, with the exception of the final. All match fees are to be paid prior to the relevant fixture commencing.

  • Please see the Payout Structure for prize information. All prizes are subject to entries and players’ table fees being paid on time.

SCORING

• Matches are to be played as ‘first to 6 frames’ but, as with tennis, if the score reaches 6-5, one further game is played. If the leading player wins this game, he wins the match 7-5. If the trailing player wins the game, the score is tied at 6-6 and a tiebreaker frame is played. The winner of the tiebreak frame wins the match by a score of 7-6.

HANDICAPPING SYSTEM

  • The following handicapping system will be applied for all KO Cup Matches:

PREMIER PLAYERS – START ON -2
DIVISION ONE PLAYERS – START 0
DIVISION TWO PLAYERS – START ON +2

This means, for example, if a Premier player draws a Division Two player, then he starts on -2, while the Division Two player starts on +2.

  • All first round losers will be entered into the KO Plate Competition which will run alongside the main event, as per the fixture programme.

DRAWS

  • Each round will be drawn, at random, by the Organisers, after all previous round matches have been played. Table allocations will also be done, at random, following the draw.
  • Should any player leave the league and not complete their fixture programme while still in the KO Competition, their next opponent in the competition will receive a BYE.
